Christophe Muser from "Muser Trading" explained to us how to sell European brands in Korea.

For Korea, EU has been one of the main trading partners.

Among 28countries of EU, 6 countries consist 60percents of export and other countries export less than them. They make FTA because of the amount of trade between Korea and EU : they abolish tariff walls.

We choose car trading because of 3 reasons : the proportion, the familiarity and the importance of cars.

 

Automobile exports is one of major export items for Korea.

due to FTA with EU, korean car sales in european car market are increasing.

(Europe imposes a tax of 10% on imported cars. but this tax was eliminated.

because of price competitiveness, differentiated services and the development of the automotive industry, korean cars are more popular compare to past in Europe.

however, there are problems of FTA.

The first problem is the domestic auto parts sales are in decline.

Seconde is the polarization between big business and small business.

So, the government should strive for the development of SME

 

In 2012, imported vehicles car’s share broke the wall of 10% at the first time, and finally it recorded 12.1% in last year. And according to statistics show in 2013, 78.1% of the imported cars are made in Europe, the figure is expected to pass 80% in 2014. I think, because of abolition of tariff, falling exchange rate and lift of quota on economical point. Also on consumer’s perspective, it is safety and durable of vehicles and image marketing.

But here is still problem to be solved. So far the right after-service center of European vehicles does not exist in the country. European automobile companies need to build Infra and to expand a management system, and it's time to find the way for increasing of customer satisfaction' such as introduction of used car purchase program.

 

The FTA between Korea and EU has not only economic advantage, but also gives more choices and variety for both countries. It enables customers in both countries to enjoy better life.

In fact, we're in a disadvantageous position compared to Europe.

Of course, there are advantages and disadvantages of FTA with EU. such as the problem that the polarization between big business and small business.

So, the government strive for compensate the defect. then we can have win-win position with EU.

And I hope that we have to more strengthen relation with Europe through FTA.
